At Tobin Brothers Funerals we are lucky enough to have 245 incredible staff. Today, 50% are female. It’s amazing to think that when recently retired Marnie Duncan commenced at Tobin Brothers over 45 years ago, there were only a handful of women working for the company.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is ‘Each for Equal’. Equality is not just a women's issue, it's a business issue. Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive. A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious.

While the race is on for the gender equal boardroom, a gender equal government, gender equal media coverage, gender equal sports coverage, more gender equality in health and wealth, Tobin Brothers Funerals is proud to have been at the forefront of promoting and establishing a gender equal workforce in the funeral industry, with women being employed across all aspects of the business in 2020.

Over the past week across our social media platforms, you may have noticed daily videos being uploaded, celebrating the wonderful work the woman at Tobin Brothers Funerals do each day. Keep following each day for new videos and our special extended video which will be uploaded on International Women’s Day this Sunday March 8.

At last count, the video series had been viewed close to 50,000 times and generated some great comments. It’s especially great to see fellow staff members embrace this campaign. To view the videos on our facebook page click the following link.  https://www.facebook.com/TobinBrothersFunerals/.

If you do not have a facebook account, you can view the videos here, please check back to this link for updates as the videos are released.

To complement the social media campaign, two radio ads were recorded which feature James MacLeod, Denis Walter and as well staff members Aneka Stagg (Embalmer), Cathy Tobin (Funeral Planner/Conductor), Christine Griffiths (Head Office Receptionist), Helen O’Hagan (Catering Manager) and Matilda Stevens (Creative Communications); talking about what they love about their jobs. The radio ads have been on air since Friday 28th of February and will conclude on Sunday 8th of March on 3AW, Magic 1278, RSN 927, SEN 1116, 2NE and Edge FM Echuca and Deniliquin. The ad featuring our female staff members can be heard by playing the audio file at the beginning of this post.

To celebrate the wonderful contribution our female staff make to the company, a breakfast was held on Tuesday March 3. The female staff members were lucky enough to hear from humanitarian Moira Kelly OAM. Moira shared her incredible journey and some amazing stories from her life and the children she has helped over the years. We also presented her with a $1000 cheque to her foundation- “The Moira Kelly creating Hope foundation”

Thank you to all those that volunteered to be involved in our International Women’s Day campaign this year and well done to all the amazing woman that represent Tobin Brothers Funerals every single day of the year.
